Dr. Yoon Joo Hwang, Assistant Bassoon Professor at the University Central Florida, has taught and performed throughout the United States, Asia and Europe. She taught extensively in California at UCLA, Pasadena Conservatory of Musice and the Idyllwild Summer Arts Academy. She was invited to give master classes at the Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea), the Central Conservatory of Music, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Academy and the Shenzhen Arts School in China and served as a judge for the Florida MTNA competition in 2018. In 2015, she was selected as a featured performer at the International Double Reed Society. Dr. Hwang earned her D.M.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder under Yoshi Ishikawa and M.M. at UCLA under John Steinmetz. While studying in Germany, she worked with Gunther Blahuschek of the Bamberger Symphoniker and Yoshi Tominaga in Austria. She studied at USC with Shawn Mouser and received a Performance Diploma from Boston University under the Matthew Ruggiero.
