Yi Cao was born in Wuhan, China. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, with Prof. Wei Dong. After finishing his study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK with Prof. Janathan Small, Yi received a Master’s degree at the Trossingen State College of Music in the class of Prof. Nicholas Daniel. Later, he deepened studies with as a student in the soloist class with Prof. Christian Schmitt at the State Academy of Music in Performing Arts in Stuttgart. Yi also participated in various artistic events; including winning a prize at the 7th International Competition of Mozart Concerts for woodwinds in Italy in May, 2014 and first prize in the 1st International Music Competition in South Korea (international players of Busan) in the same year. Since 2016, Yi Cao has been appointed as an Oboe Professor at the Conservatory of Music in Wuhan, China and he also plays as the Principal Oboe in the Oriental Symphony Orchestra, Wuhan.
