Robert Morgan just completed a long tenure as solo English horn and assistant principal oboe of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra. He is a senior lecturer in oboe and chamber music at Northwestern University’s Beinen School of Music and a founding member of Rembrandt Chamber Musicians. He has performed numerous concerti with Music of the Baroque and The Grant Park Symphony Orchestra as well as other orchestras in the greater Chicago area. Former principal oboist of The Carmel Bach Festival and The Oklahoma City Symphony, Morgan has served as acting principal oboist of The Los Angeles Philharmonic and acting assistant principal of the St. Louis Symphony. He has also performed with The Chicago Symphony and with members of The Guarnieri Quartet. An active proponent of new music, Mr. Morgan has commissioned works by Jon Polifrone, Sebastian Huydts, Howard Levy, David Schrader & IIja Hurnik. Mr. Morgan is a student of Ray Still, Marc Lifschey and John Mack and a graduate of Indiana University.
