Mary Nan Jordan was principal clarinetist with the USAF Band of Mid America and USAF Band of Flight and has performed throughout the US and Europe. As a member of the Midwest Winds quintet, she has performed recitals/master classes at colleges across the US and has been a faculty member of the Sequoyah Chamber Music Festival. She holds degrees from the Julliard School and Southern Methodist University and her teachers included Steven Girko, Leon Russianoff and Charles Neidich. She is the clarinet professor at McKendree University where she maintains a large studio, directs clarinet choir and teaches music appreciation. A proponent of new chamber music, Mary Nan has been involved in premieres of new works including the concert band version of Damien Montano’s Concerto for Clarinet and Bassoon at the Arkansas Bandmasters 2010 Convention and premieres of pieces by Arthur Weisberg, John Stenmeitz, Andrew Callo, and Dean Smith at the IDRS conferences in 2009, 2012, 2013, and 2016.
