Joseph Grimmer joined the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra/Washington National Opera Orchestra as Principal Bassoon in 2015 and recently finished his first season as Principal Bassoon with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra. He previously served as Principal Bassoon with the Jacksonville Symphony, was a member of the Houston Gran Opera Orchestra, and was Acting Assistant Principal Bassoon with the Naples Philharmonic, and was a member of the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra for seven seasons. Mr. Grimmer joined the faculty of the University of Maryland in 2017, is a faculty member at the Miami Music Festival, and has given masterclasses in Spain (IDRS 2018), Sweden, Canada, and throughout the USA. He also teaches privately in the DC metro area. He earned his MM from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music with Benjamin Kamins and his BM from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music with William Winstead.
