Dr. Jacob Goforth is a freelance Bassoonist and a Washington state native. Goforth’s major teachers have been Daniel Lipori, Michael Burns and Jeff Keesecker at Central Washington University, University of North Carolina Greensboro and Florida State University, respectively. He has performed with the Jacksonville Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Savannah Philharmonic, Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and several others. He also served as Artist in Residence for the Fall 2018 academic term at Valdosta State University prior to finishing his Doctor of Music Degree. On August 31, 2018, Mr. Goforth made his international debut at he 47th Annual Conference of the International Double Reed Society in Granada, Spain. He gave international premieres of music by Alex Shapiro and Gregory Wanamaker, which will culminate in a recording project in 2019. Jacob is an avid proponent of new music commissions and giving exposure to works by underperformed composers.
