Bassoon

David Petersen has held the position of Principal Solo Bassoon at the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig since 1992.  He is a member of several chamber music ensembles and recorded an album with Leitzinger Bassoon Quartett in 2015.  David makes regular guest appearances at various festivals in Taiwan, Japan, France, Italy, and Austria as well as Germany and performed as a soloist in Germany, Spain, Denmark, Japan, France and the USA.  As highlights, he performed Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto at the Salzburg Festival with Camerata Salzburg, conducted by Sir Roger Norrington and Jolivet’s Bassoon Concerto at the Gewandhaus Leipzig.   Since 2002 he had held a teaching position in Bassoon Studies at the School of Music in Frankfurt/Main and is now teaching at the School of Music in Rostock (University).   David has been a member of the ” Orchester der Bayreuther Festspiele” since 2009. He is playing a Leitzinger bassoon since 2004 and Leitzinger bocals since 1992.
