Christian Tran

Christian Tran is a New York City-based Oboist. As a performer, he strives to reach new audiences and has performed in a variety of venues, from casinos in Las Vegas, to cafes in Hanoi, to local elementary school classrooms. He currently plays in an oboe/clarinet duo, Duo from the Heights, with his wife Rebekah. Prior to moving to New York, Christian’s chamber ensembles have been awarded Brigham Young University’s Chamber Community Connection Grant and prizes in the MTNA Chamber Music competitions. At Brigham Young University, Christian received the Shirley Oscarson Classical Music Award, the school’s highest award, was awarded an ORCA Undergraduate Research Grant, and was a winner of the school’s concerto competition. Christian is currently pursuing a Masters of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music as a student of Stephen Taylor.
