Celeste Johnson is currently the Associate Professor of Oboe at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance. Previously, she has held faculty positions at Oklahoma State University, Bay View Music Festival, Filharmonica Joven de Colombia, and Roberts Wesleyan College. She has performed with the Kansas City Symphony, Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Sarasota Opera, Binghamton Philharmonic, and New York String Orchestra. Her recent recording, “KaleidosCoping”, features 21st century music for flute, oboe and piano, and was released on the Equilibrium label in January 2019. Ms. Johnson has twice performed as one of five finalists in the Gillet/Fox International Oboe Competition and was a prize-winner at the Barbirolli International Oboe Competition. Formerly a student of Richard Kilmer, Nancy Ambrose King and Phil Koch. Ms. Johnson holds degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Eastman School of Music.
