The Guntram Wolf company is based in the 1000-year-old city of Kronach, the birthplace of Lucas Cranach d. Ä. Kronach is an idyllic town in the Franconian Forest with a picturesque, historic town center and overlooked by the never defeated fortress Rosenberg.
The company founder Guntram Wolf studied after graduation first at the University of Munich ancient Near Eastern archeology and then changed after a few detours in the teaching profession. The secondary school teacher of history, English and biology worked in the school orchestra and also worked as a teacher at the Berufsfachschule für Musik in Kronach.
In addition to his teaching, Guntram Wolf was passionate about playing, replicating and developing a variety of historical and modern woodwind instruments. Over time, instrument building began to take on an ever higher status in his life, which led him to take the master’s exam in 1992 as a woodwind instrument maker to devote himself entirely to instrument making. Thus, the way was clear for the extension of the already existing workshop rooms and the training of junior staff.
